2019 Fall Foliage Tour & GMR Members’ Business Meeting

As promised Pete and Ellen Arnold put together a wonderful drive through the Vermont country side under a perfect “Kodak” blue sky on Saturday, October 5. The day began in a chilly Berlin, Vermont where over 25 cars gathered for the Tour. The tour wound its way from Berlin through Williamstown on Route 14 then proceeded on a ‘west – east ” direction to Chelsea followed by Vershire Heights. We then headed north towards Corinth Corners and turned onto the Chelsea Road then the Brook Road with their spectacular foliage views eventually driving to Bradford for a rest and refreshment stop. From Bradford we travelled south through Thetford, Union Village and Norwich to the Public House in Quechee for lunch and the GMR Annual Meeting. By the conclusion of the tour we had travelled over 94 miles with the highest point at 1,102ft. A big thank you to Pete and Ellen!

See below to download the tour map with turn by turn directions.

At the GMR Business Meeting the membership approved the proposed amendments to the Green Mountain Region bylaws. The review was precipitated at the request of national PCA, who want the Region’s bylaws to better align with National bylaws.

GMR Report: The 29th Gran Premio Nuvolari from Mantova, Italy

Hi all!

I couldn’t help but think of the GMR club today! Bernie and I planned to visit the town / small city of Mantova, Italy, not knowing that it was hosting the start and finish  of the Gran Premio Nuvolari, a 3-day road rally throughout Italy in its 29th year. All cars entered had to be built between 1919 and 1972, and the cars were spectacular. We arrived at the start of the rally, around car #40 – there were 320 entered, all being started individually for the rally.

I’ve provided the link (in English) if you like to see what this is about:
And, I took a couple hundred pictures of many classics: I couldn’t begin to name all the brands. Porsche was very well represented, and had its own support truck. I’m including a few pictures of some of the Porsches we saw. Especially some yellow ones for you to enjoy, Peggy! And, I included a couple pictures of the staging area that shows some of the many makes that were represented. This was certainly an unexpected blast, and made for a pretty fun day.

  1. When I step on the pedal from a dead stop in low gear, my ’99 Boxster is not taking off like it used to.  The last time I changed plugs was seven or eight years ago at 90,000 miles, now I have 122,000. Should I change plugs?
  2. How often should I get a wheel alignment?
  3. I am getting some oil drip on the garage floor under my 1971 911E. Is that a problem, what should I do?
