About GMT

WHO WE ARE

We are the Vermont ‘Region’ of the Porsche Club of America, the world’s largest single-marque automobile club. This means that we are the official, nationally affiliated Porsche club in this state.

The Green Mountain Region (GMT) received a charter as part of PCA in 1986.  As of 1987, the President was Patrick Walsh, the Vice-President was Lou Hochheiser, the Secretary was Don Cummings, the Treasurer was Cindy Walsh, the Newsletter Editor was Dick Flynn, and the Membership Chair was, again, Cindy Walsh.  Stu Jacobs became Treasurer in 1988 and held that post through December 2012, the longest service record of any officer.  Lou Krieg, Ann Pettyjohn, as well as Dennis and Judy Bosch also have served ‘forever’, too.

Mainly, we are a social club – and we are very good at this – but there are some members who aspire to eventual Autocross, and the like; currently members with this interest indulge it at a Region nearby.  Being next to Canada means some of our events are international, and some are multi-day, over-night celebrations of Porschedom.  We drive, we party, we eat, we are good friends.

The GMT is one of many Regions that exist in 13 PCA Zones across the continent. We are in Zone 1.

Here is what PCA has to say about itself, on its website:

“The Porsche Club of America celebrates the finer things in life. We desire the comfort of good friends and good conversation, and we praise to a fault the world’s finest automobile. With those attributes, our club has grown to 140 Regions throughout the United States and Canada.

“We race each other, show our prized possessions, conduct rallies, autocrosses and tours. The Club sponsors driver education, restoration and technical sessions. We know our Porsche, or Porsches if we’re lucky, inside and out. We even have an award-winning magazine, Porsche Panorama, which tells our stories and provides an insider view to everything Porsche.

“The Porsche experience reaches across the cars and the years to people, binding together the family whose name the cars bear, the men and women who design and build them, and those across the world who drive and cherish them.

“We know the unbridled joy that a Porsche can provide, and we’ve built a community around that very feeling. The Porsche Club of America offers driving experience, technical assistance and camaraderie second to none.”
