The GMR is pleased to start the 2024 driving season with another wonderful driving tour organized by Nico Seldon of Woodstock. This route has well-maintained curvy roads and some classic Vermont views. The tour will start and end in Woodstock, VT and will cover approximately 150 miles and take about 4 hours to complete.
We will assemble for the tour in the parking lot of the Woodstock Ace Home & Hardware at 452 Woodstock Road in Woodstock. [We will converge in area farthest away from entrance door — by the abandoned bank teller machines]. We will begin gathering from 8.30am but we ask that everyone arrive no later than 9.00am to allow sufficient time to check-in, the driver’s meeting and vehicle line up for a prompt departure at 9.30am. Please be punctual as we will receive assistance from the Woodstock police to facilitate an orderly tour start.
From Woodstock the tour will head towards Hartland then onto Chester where we will take a short 15 break at the Vermont Tea House (15 Depot Street). Following the break make our way to Londonderry and continuing south to Winhall where we will head west towards the Manchester area. From there we will head north on Route 7 to Danby where we will take our second break at the Otter Creek Fun Center. They have rest rooms and a “quick menu” ranging from sandwiches to ice cream to smoothies. Our expected break time will be 30 minutes. After the break we will continue north to Wallingford and pick up Route 140 East. If you haven’t previously driven on this stretch of road you have a treat coming. After proceeding east through Ludlow and Cavendish we will work our way back to Vail Field in Woodstock to conclude the tour.
The tour will end with a short roadside stop and group farewell at Vale Field in Woodstock (arrival time is estimated between 1:30pm and 2:00pm.
