The GMR is pleased to start the 2023 driving season with a driving tour organized by Nico Seldon. This drive is rife with well-maintained curvy roads and beautiful river views that will take us from Vermont to New Hampshire and back to Vermont.
We will assemble for the tour in the parking lot of the Woodstock Ace Home & Hardware at 452 Woodstock Road in Woodstock. [We will converge in area farthest away from entrance door — by the abandoned bank teller machines. This is an unused part of the lot]. We will begin gathering from 8.30am but ask that everyone be there no later than 9.15am to allow sufficient time to check-in, the driver’s meeting and vehicle line up for a prompt departure at 9:45am. Punctuality is important because we will receive a police escort out of the Woodstock Ace lot to keep all cars together and ensure that no one enters into our convoy.
From Woodstock the tour will head to Plainfield, New Hampshire via the Windsor Covered Bridge with a short break at the Plainfield Country Store where rest room facilities are available. We encourage you to consider making a small purchase (preferably in cash) to support the use of the facilities.
From Plainfield we will then continue on to our ultimate destination — Flat Iron Cooperative, which is a funky pastry/coffee/sandwich shop in Bellows Falls. Our estimated arrival time is 11:15am-11:30am. After consuming food and drink, using their facilities, and schmoozing, we shall embark on the second half of this scenic tour utilizing many roads that were not previously traveled on during the first half. Departure from Bellows Falls will likely be between 12:15pm and 12:30pm. The tour will end with a short roadside stop and group farewell at Vale Field in Woodstock (arrival time is estimated between 1:20pm and 1:40pm.
