August 4 – Barre Cemetery and BBQ in Waitsfield

Next Saturday, Aug. 4th!

11 a.m. — Meet at Famous Hope Cemetery in Barre followed by noon BBQ at Waitsfield home of
David Steinman and Arlene Diesenhouse.

The headstones speak to the creativity and craft of the Italian carvers and Scottish quarriers who wished to leave an artistic legacy for their descendants: sculptures of cars, planes, people and other objects dear to the deceased. Hope Cemetery Info

We will be given a one-hour walking tour hosted by a docent.
Be at the entrance to the Hope Cemetery 10:45 – 10:55 a.m. for a prompt 11 a.m. cemetery tour start. $5.00 per car for the docent.

After the Hope Cemetery tour, we drive individually to the home of David Steinman and Arlene Diesenhouse where David will cook up his great BBQ burgers and dogs at the potluck.

Arlene’s directions to their home: When you leave the cemetery, make a left out the driveway. Go straight and follow the road to 89 north. Get off at exit for Middlesex. Make left at end of ramp. Left onto Route 2. Right onto 100B. Go straight to 100, through Waitsfield . Stay on 100, after town for 2 1/2 miles. Right onto Butternut Hill road. Across the one-lane bridge, 2nd driveway on right, 308 Butternut Hill Rd.

Arlene says: BBQ potluck lunch. Just let me know what you are bringing. Looking forward to seeing everyone. It should be fun!

For those new since last year’s BBQ at Arlene and David’s, David is a nationally-known antique/classic car restorer and his auto barn and shop next to the house is a treat to visit!
